Overview

Potatoes South Africa’s transformation strategy addresses a critical issue – the support of Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) and skills development for potato enterprises. Farming enterprises need to create a supportive culture within their organisations to attract new talent, facilitate the development of existing employees, and speed up the progress of talented individuals into key positions within their respective enterprises.

The goals are:

  • To increase the meaningful participation of black people in senior, middle and junior management structures of potato enterprises
  • To create a workforce that truly represents the racial, ethnic and gender diversity as well as the talent in our country
  • To support enterprises in the development of career and learning paths for employees with potential
  • To support the development of employees through skills development training that involve learnership and skills programmes
  • To identify key talent and develop them through the Tertiary Skills Development Pipeline by funding bursaries, Internship and Workplace Experience programmes to develop black managers.
