Potatoes South Africa, (PSA), is the official representative of the potato producers. We are passionate about potatoes and the people who produce, process, market and consume them, as well as supportive of the structures which underpin the industry.
We continuously strive to maintain free market principles, which we see as an essential characteristic of a dynamic economy and a thriving industry.
PSA makes a significant contribution to the industry’s knowledge base by commissioning, facilitating and conducting user-orientated research. This strategic information is interpreted and disseminated to industry role-players, equipping them with current research which they can apply in a variety of ways.

In response to Potatoes South Africa’s representations to the Directorate: Food Safety and Quality Assurance of the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and a subsequent visit to a potato farming operation to determine first-hand the extent of the implications and problems the indication of date codes on packaging has, the Directorate has kindly extended the existing dispensation for indicating the date code on packaging until 31 December 2012.
