Cabinet approves minimum wage bill
  Cabinet approved the National Minimum Wage Bill during its fortnightly meeting on November 1. The draft legislation will now be referred to Parliament for further deliberation, after which President Jacob Zuma will be required to officially sign it into law. Read more

HIGH ALERT WARNING TO ALL FARMERS: PLANT PESTS MAY EXPLODE IN THE GROWTH SEASON


CropLife South Africa urgent alert: An unprecedented outbreak of African armyworm in canola and wheat in the Western Cape triggered fears that plant pests may explode in the forthcoming growth season. Reports of very large numbers of moths trapped in pheromone traps in other parts of South Africa indicate a very challenging season ahead for farmers. Read more

JF VAN DER MERWE ELECTED AS NEW CHAIRPERSON OF POTATOES SA 


JF van der Merwe, previously Vice-Chairperson of Potatoes SA, was elected as Chairperson of Potatoes SA during Congress on 28 September 2017. He replaces Ernst Yzel from the Eastern Free State who served as Chairperson for 12 years. JF van der Merwe is from the Western Free State. The new Vice-Chairperson will be elected at the Board of Directors Meeting in November this year. 



GERHARD POSTHUMUS ELECTED AS CHAIRPERSON OF THE NATIONAL SEED POTATO COMMITTEE


Gerhard Posthumus from the Western Free State was elected as Chairperson of the National Seed Committee on 27 September 2017. He replaces Lewellyn (Tiekie) de Kock from Ceres who served as Chairperson for 4 years.
