KWAZULU-NATAL

Statistics presented on this page represent a production season from 1 July to 30 June the following year.

This region is one of the largest seed producing areas in South Africa.  The main planting season in this region is in September and October.  Although seed potatoes are harvested from January to September, most of the seed potatoes are lifted from April to June.

The KwaZulu-Nata Midlands form the heart of the seed production area in the province.  Some seed is also produced in the north near Louwsburg, a traditionally virus-free area.
