SANDVELD

Statistics presented on this page represent a production season from 1 July to 30 June the following year.

Unique to this area is that seed potatoes can be planted throughout the year, peaking during February and March, as well as June and July.  These peaks are also reflected in the yield with July / August and November / December producing the largest quantity of certified seed potatoes.

The area dedicated to seed production has declined steadily over the past five years.  This proably may be ascribed to an increase in ware production.
