WESTERN FREE STATE

Statistics presented on this page represent a production season from 1 July to 30 June the following year.

The Western Free State is among the six largest seed production areas in South Africa.  Fields reserved for seed potato production are usually plated from December to February to be harvested mainly from June to September.
 
This region specialises in seed production of Dutch seed potato varieties.  These include Mondia, Platina and Fabula.
