- The winter crop is marketed from November to April and the summer crop from May to August.
- Processing:
- Nearly 24% of the winter crop and none of the summer crop is processed.
- Cultivars:
- The main cultivars are:
- Winter crop: Vanderplank, Up-to-Date BP1, Buffelspoort and Mondial.
- Summer crop: BP1, Up-to-Date, Buffelspoort and Mondial
- Other: Potatoes are planted mainly in small fields by vegetable farmers in areas where land is still available.
