- The potato crop consists of 90% table and 10% seed potatoes

- Potatoes are mainly planted from August to December.
- Marketing period:
- From middle December to May.
- Processing:
- Nearly 28% of the table potato crop is processed.
- Cultivars:
- The main table cultivars are - Mondial, Up-to-Date and BP1.
- The main processing cultivars are Pentland Dell and Fianna
Tha largest part of the Mpumalanga potato crop planted on the highveld between Middelburg, Wonderfontein and Hendrina. Irrigationwater comes from dams.
