PROJECT NAME: TRANSFORMATION SYMPOSIUM

Background

On an annual basis and concurrent with Potatoes South Africa congress every second year, the Transformation Symposium will be hosted.

Goals
  • To bring all farmer development stakeholders under one roof for opportunity creation, networking and farmers learning from one another
  • To show what Potatoes South Africa is doing with regard to transformation
  • To do case studies on various transformation models in action 
  • To create a platform for interaction and debate on transformation- (how do we invent the future- interactive)
  • To show case success stories in potato farming development
  • Attract investors into farmer development
  • To disseminate important information about the AgriBEE processes
  • To unpack the AgriBEE scorecard to the producers
Objectives/Outcomes

  • Opportunities created for business linkages through networking platform
  • More investment into development of potato farming enterprises
  • Important information disseminated about AgriBEE and the scorecard
  • Important lessons learned about the key to creating success in transformation
  • Farmers obtaining exposure and learning important lessons on how other farmers have achieved success
Time frame: September 2009

Action plan

  • Plan the implementation of the programme
  • Acquire sponsorship
  • Invite experts to disseminate important information
Success criteria

Well organised symposium achieving the set objectives

Assumptions
  • It is assumed that the budget will be approved and sponsorships acquired for the success of the programme
  • It is assumed that important stakeholders will attend the event
NB: Potatoes South Africa has joined forces with Free State Agriculture to host the AgriBEE and Transformation Symposium.
